National Chocolate Cake Day

Some of you may be aware, and others may not, that today, January 27th, is National Chocolate Cake Day!!! Sounds crazy, I know, but even if you don't believe me, it's a thing (look it up, really, I'm not lying!) So anyway, in honor of this special day, I've been on a mission throughout the day to find recipes and pictures that look amazing to share with all of you!

Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off Recap: Season 2 Episode 3

Hey guys!

So I know this episode premiered last week (1/20/13) but I haven't seen it yet, so I'm watching it and blogging about it to get everyone ready for tonight's new episode as well! Even if you've seen the episode already, be sure to keep reading. It's not just a recap, there's more to it. And for those of you that have not seen this show before, it is definitely a fun one to watch so I would recommend it! There is a new episode on tonight (Sunday) starting at 9 pm on the Food Network (which I'll be blogging about, and live tweeting, as well). Now let's get to it! (spoilers ahead...)

What's To Come

Hi to all my readers!

As this is a new blog and you readers, as well as myself, are still getting accustomed to what I'll be writing, I wanted to give you a heads up about the posts that will be coming within the next couple of days, so that you'll know to stick around.

Kitchen Gadgets

If you're anything like me, the smallest, most specific kitchen gadgets are what make cooking fun! In my spare time, I sometimes go around on the Internet looking for new kitchen gadgets, not to necessarily buy them, but it is certainly cool seeing what is out there. Here are a few of my favorites that I've recently (as in today) come across:

Trisha's Southern Kitchen Recap: Season 2, Episode 13

Hi everyone,

As you all know, I'm very into watching cooking shows on the Food Network. However, once I get to watching certain shows, I stick to those, so unfortunately there are shows I have not taken the time to watch yet, including:  Trisha's Southern Kitchen. That's why, today, I've decided to watch and blog about it's new episode "Football, Friends, and Good Food."

Sour Cream Cornbread: As they start cooking, I can't help but laugh that they are all fans of different teams. Must make for an enjoyable football watching experience. Woah, I turned around to look at the cornbread and they (Trisha and her friend) were already putting it in the pan. But what's in it is just as it sounds, corn and sour cream, along with a few other ingredients to give it a base. Cool. I guess the block of time they say it takes is really just for baking. You can find the complete recipe on foodnetwork.com here: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/trisha-yearwood/sour-cream-cornbread-recipe/index.html

The New Food Network Logo

Before I get to the actual post, I feel as though, being a new blogger, I have an obligation to preface my first few blogs by asking those who are reading to please follow or add my link to their posts and spread the word about my blog. With reassurance from other bloggers, I can make this blog great!

Food Network Logo Transformation: I'm not sure if those reading this blogs are aware, as this is a food-oriented blog, but tonight (or tomorrow evening for those in Australia) is the women's final of the tennis Australian Open. Therefore, I have about an hour to kill before the match begins, so I figured I would share my thoughts on the new Food Network logo.

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Recap: Season 16, Episode 5

Triple D. One of my favorite shows on Food Network. Why? Simple. You enjoy all the perks of going to a restaurant; good food, satisfaction, friends; yet without the calories and the price tag!

Jimmy's Diner- Brooklyn, NY
First, one of the cooks is making some kind of fruit, waffle concoction. With the amount of pancetta and butter in that pot you'd think they were feeding an army. But no, just the nearby college student locals. I must say, though, that apple, pancetta, brown sugar glaze looked smooth and delicious! And trust me you can not get that kind of topping on a Belgian waffle at any of the breakfast places I'm going too, so if anyone knows a place that has that, let me know!

My First Post!

Hi All!

This is my first post ever in a blog. I'm definitely new to this but I'll learn as I go along. Many of you may be thinking, why blog now? Why start blogging when there are so many other food blogs out there? How can yours stand out? I'm not positive it will, but I hope it will inspire others, as some other blogs have inspired me, including http://priyaeasyntastyrecipes.blogspot.com/http://foodandspice.blogspot.com/, http://easy2cookrecipes.blogspot.com/, and http://foodbloggerhub.blogspot.com/.

There will be great things to come! I plan on blogging about the Top Chef TV series, as well as many Food Network competition shows such as Rachel vs. Guy, Next Food Network Star, and more. Furthermore, while I am not one to invent my own recipes, I love testing out those of others, so I will post some of my favorite recipes I've cooked. Finally, I'll post miscellaneous things about cooking; whether it be about essential kitchen tools, restaurant reviews, thoughts about celebrity chefs, and more.

What is most important to me with my blog is interacting with my followers. If you think you would be interested in reading my posts, please follow and feel free to email me anytime at blogs.by.rachel@gmail.com. If you have suggestions for a television show you would like me to watch/blog about, a recipe you would like me to try/blog about, or a restaurant suggestion, I would certainly be happy to. And make sure to post the link to my blog when you are blogging as well!

Question of the day: What is your favorite type of cookie?
